Photonic nanostructures
- Spring semester Friday, 4th period
Class Outline
Progress on nanotechnologies is contributing to the development of various fields including photonics. Among various nanostructures, structures that control the property of light are called photonic nanostructures. Among various nanostructures, structures that control the property of light are called photonic nanostructures. Photonic nanostructures are now an important building block for constructing novel optical devices. Some examples of nanostructures are, photonic crystals, meta-materials, plasmonic nanostructures, and silicon-photonics, all of which are Some examples of nanostructures are, photonic crystals, meta-materials, plasmonic nanostructures, and silicon-photonics, all of which are
In this course, I will introduce the basics and applications of the photonic nanostructure. Next, I will introduce the unique property of light in the photonic nanostructure. In particular, the student is required to understand and write a program on the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, which is a powerful tool for analyzing nano-photonics.
