High-Efficiency Terahertz Transmission in the 300 GHz Band Using Multisolitons (IEEE Phot. J.)
By utilizing multiple solitons within a SiN microring, we increased the intensity of the optical component used to generate terahertz waves while maintaining an optical frequency spacing of 300 GHz. In 10 Gbit/s transmission experiments, we reduced noise and the bit error rate compared to the case of a single soliton, and reduced the optical input required to achieve a BER of 10⁻⁹ by up to 1.4 dB (approximately 28%). This achievement, which enhances transmission performance by utilizing the operating state of the light source, paves the way for highly efficient terahertz communications.
